Hi it's me again. My last name is Murphy so I will start adding that. I need a farrier and veterinarian for my horse. Do you have any suggestions on who to use? If so please tell me so. I don't want my horse to get sick.

I need to get my horse vitamins and food. I don't know how much though. How much would it be per month?

My daughter Hayden has been riding with Yvonne at Thousand Hills since she was 2 years old. Yvonne is a wonderful teacher and will meet each child where they are. Not only will your child learn to ride (and ride well) they will also learn how to muck stalls, groom and tack their horses and clean tack. You will not run into the negativity and competitiveness that are often found at big show barns. There is a true sense of family at this farm and Mark and Yvonne adopt each child into their Thousand Hills Riding family. My daughter loves her riding lessons and her time at the barn and my 18 month old son is not far behind!

Our three daughters have been riding with Yvonne since we moved to Virginia 2 years ago. They love Yvonne, her horses, and the relaxed feel of the barn. It's become a great way for them to get fresh air, exercise, and have loads of fun with their favorite ponies!

I grew up riding and always knew I would introduce my son to riding as well. That was almost a year ago and the progress he has made has just blown me away. He absolutely loves riding and Yvonne knows exactly how to get him to understand what she needs him to learn. I tell everyone I drive 45 mins each way for my son to ride cause it's worth it.

Since my daughter started lessons last March I have seen a huge change in her confidence and she looks forward to every lesson. She continues to learn something new every single visit to the barn. This has been a great experience with very flexible schedules and reasonable rates. I am so glad I decided to start taking my daughter to Thousand Hills and look forward to many more visits.

We had a WONDERFUL experience at Thousand Hills this weekend. It was my daughters' first experience with horses (5 year-old and 2-year-old) and they absolutely loved it. Mrs. Yvonne is an awesome instructor - calm, patient, clear, and encouraging. I highly recommend Thousand Hills!

Can I just tell you, Ava has two stuffed horses and a pretend curry comb. She was in bed brushing Lyric and Nike. You have forever changed her life and I am so sad we are leaving soon because all Ava asks for are your horses

Charmaine and Logan Rich (Saturday, 09 August 2014 11:27)

Logan has been riding with Ms. Yvonne for the past 5 months and loves going to her barn. Yvonne is very caring and extremely patient with her students. Logan is learning a lot and has excelled with her horse riding. We live in Falls Church,VA and the 40 minute drive is well worth it. Since Logan has begun riding her confidence level has increased and she is doing better in school and has been making more friends. She looks forward every week to see Cabbie, Lyric and Nike....and of course Ms. Yvonne!

My daughter Averie has had a generalized anxiety disorder since she was a very small child. Most recently, it has manifested itself in eyebrow pulling, which has been most distressing for both Averie and for me. She has had massage therapy, equine therapy---just walking and petting horses, no riding---as well as talk therapy to help her deal with her anxiety, because I don't believe medication is always the best route. All of these methods helped some. However, when she started with Yvonne Toone at Thousand Hills back in January, actually riding horses, I saw a marked improvement immediately. Her dark mood improved, she stopped pulling her eyebrows and she began counting down the days until her next lesson. Lessons with Yvonne have been life-changing for Averie. She is a different child now. She adores the horses, enjoys grooming them and most of all, riding. Her everyday confidence in herself has grown and I am finally seeing a happy child emerge.
Averie and I have a mother-daughter journal that we both write in. She writes about whatever is on her mind and I respond. A couple of weeks ago she wrote how happy and connected she feels to Gwen, one of Yvonne's horses, and that she feels safe, calm and loved when she "looks into her deep, brown eyes". I was overjoyed reading this because my baby, my Averie, wasn't anxious, she felt good, like a ten-year-old child should. Thank you, Thousand Hills and Yvonne Toone for giving Averie a safe place to come back to herself.

Frida and Alysa (Saturday, 22 March 2014 10:18)

Alysa is my 4 year old girl and she started getting lessons from Miss Yvonne last November. Alysa is the little girl in the picture giving some "suga" kisses to Lyric!!!!She fell in love with the pony, Lyric, from the first time and now she refers to her as her baby! Lyric is so sweet to my little girl and i feel so comfortable letting Alysa be around her. I feel blessed for having Miss Yvonne as her instructor. She shows excitement every time we go there, and very sweet and passionate about teaching little kids. We have fallen in love with this little place and the whole family :). Now I am starting to take classes so i can better understand what my little girl experiences and understand her excitement every time she goes to her classes. We are very anxious to wait for competition time, since Alysa would like to go to shows and show off her skills and Lyric! She says "mommy Lyric is chestnut color, and when the Judge asks me, I will say it and Lyric will win a ribbon :)". This has also been very therapeutic for her. Great location, awesome yard and place for the kiddos to play and picnic!

Thousand Hills Riding Stable is an amazing farm. I've been riding here for almost a year now and Yvonne is a great instructor, she teaches you everything you need to know. I've learned more from her in a year than I have in the past seven years elsewhere. Her ponies are so gentle and awesome. I love riding here!
